Embrace every experience as an opportunity to grow, learn from every loss to transform and uncover a healthier version of you.  Reframe every loss experience by challenging your beliefs and trusting your inner wisdom to change and reverse the wounds of loss.  Believe in yourself. Desire, hope and dream to uncover your potential.

Look at your adversities from a different and positive perspective (through a new lens).  See your adversities simply as life changes and opportunities to learn.  Ask how has your life been changed or has the potential to be changed for the better?  Make yourself notice these positives every day, no matter how small; document them in a gratitude journal.

Instead of dwelling on your loss and pain choose to foster an attitude of openness, compassion, curiosity and optimism for your potential.  Put up with being uncomfortable momentarily but remain flexible and willing to adapt to new situations – be willing to accept that your new life (i.e. your new normal) may not resemble your old one.

Frequently refer to (and update) your values, skills, strengths and interests inventory you documented during the assessment step of the Resilience Model. These will help you to recognize opportunities that have the potential to become part of your life.  Do not listen to your mind tell you that this is not you, listen to your heart tell you that this would be an amazing life.   Inevitably, some change will push you beyond the edge of comfort in order to reap the benefits of enrichment and growth; ultimately a fuller, happier and more resilient life.

Trust that you will be successful with change and with reaching your potential. Trust your heart, for it alone holds the key to your life. Your dreams, wishes and desires are all imbedded within your heart – your inner wisdom. Set reasonable (or no) expectations for how change will turn out and do not judge your progress as reaching your potential is a journey and not a destination. Remember your destination is never a place but always a new way of seeing things.

Adversities and change are merely stepping stones for reaching your potential and creating a more resilient and joyful life.   Change is your teacher in life and when you are open to accept its lessons you will become all the better for experiencing it – a richer, more resilient person.
