Resilience poem

Canadian Rainforest in Pacific Rim National Park near Tofino, BC

The resilience of trees whisper acceptance and nurture

Trees have something to say about being resilient …

Be still, be quiet and listen.
Look at me!
Life is not easy, life is not difficult.
Let your thoughts grow silent and listen within.
You are anxious because your path leads away from home.
But every step and every day will lead you back again to home.
Home is neither here nor there.
Home is within you, or home is nowhere at all.

Trees are wiser than we are and when we have learned how to listen to trees,
then the brevity, quickness and childlike hastiness of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy.
Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree.
They want to be nothing except what they are.
That is home.
That is happiness.
